In “It’s a Deal”, a look back discloses that fan-favorite personality Alastor the Radio Demon was a mass murderer in his human life. Knowing full well he was destined for Hell, he made contact with the realm beyond beforehand to obtain a strong position there. The charismatic leader, the charismatic leader the cannibal faction in Hell, vowed Alastor he would become “the strongest Condemned Soul in Hell” in exchange for his eternal spirit.

This raises an important query: How is Rosie powerful enough to raise Alastor above all other Demonic Sinners?

“The Rosie and Alastor deal is the initial building block in a much bigger story that involves so much, moving into the third season,” the showrunner states. “Clearly that is a perfect question: How is she that powerful? The answer could be many things, but the answer is in season 3. I am thrilled for people to see it.”

There’s no telling the duration the audience will have to wait for Hazbin Hotel’s next season. The studios have approved the third and fourth seasons, but the creator often notes that animated production is a slow, lengthy process, and later seasons have no release dates yet. Still, she states holding off on specific information is a crucial aspect of keeping season 2’s attention where it belongs.

“The challenge of any kind of deal with infernal beings, or narratives that have enigmas, is giving people sufficient clues to be like, Something's up here, and then unveiling that gradually, and allowing that be satisfying,” she comments. “So I am quite eager.”

Mysteries Resolved in Season 3

The creator promises that the upcoming season will tackle the questions followers have been asking, like why the cannibal leader commanded Alastor to vanish for seven years, which weakened his influence in the infernal realm.

“The entire seven-year span, and the deals these humans are making, and everything — it contributes to a bigger narrative,” she says.

Meanwhile, the origin story episode provides another glimpse into how the core cast of Demonic Sinners looked like as mortals, following after viewing Sir Pentious’ historical mortal appearance in episode 2. She says that significant consideration went into these character designs.

“The mortal forms of these personas carry great significance,” she notes. “They range from looking quite distinct from their demon form to looking very similar. With the first character, the first one we see, there was a little bit of a debate within the team between choosing something that represents the personality, versus selecting something that's historically correct. We opted for making something that just seemed like it was him.”

She says the biggest debate over the mortal look of Pentious was his lengthy locks: “We were like, ‘Nobody typically had extended hair like that in Victorian-era London.’ But simultaneously, we think the outline is so important, and we also just felt he appeared attractive. We were like, ‘This seems correct.’ We sort of provided the rationale that he lived in seclusion, so he just allowed his hair to lengthen. So there is always a solution. As we design the human versions of these characters […] it's such a fun thing to investigate and figure out. I am looking forward for people to view additional of the appearances of the human versions.”
