The Olympic champion finished her 800m campaign with a triumph at the all-female Athlos event in NYC on Friday night.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned third place at the World Championships last month, dominated an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a year affected by a hamstring injury.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was probably easier for me to compete and be motivated to perform," said Hodgkinson.

"The atmosphere at the event is incredible so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive event filled Icahn Stadium in its second year, bringing a party atmosphere to traditional track, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena Williams, who is wed to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was on hand to present the victors with their crowns.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, won the sprint double.
